Methylene Blue Based Device for Pathogen Reduction in Human Plasma

Abstract Background Despite improvement in safety of plasma transfusion some virus transmission still remains a problem. So as World Health Organization (WHO) recommends, many countries developed Pathogen Reduction Technologies (PRT) to inactivate pathogens, in plasma components. The Methylene Blue (MB) based methods is one of the most universal one. The purpose of this research was, produce...

Modeling and copying human head movements

Abstract— This paper derives two discrete motion models for 3D pose recovery starting from the stochastic differential equations that describe the object’s motion in continuous time. The velocity is considered first as a Wiener process, which underlies the very often-used constant velocity model, and second as an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. Analysis of the autocorrelation signal derived in expe...

Foreign Body Extraction Device

Foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract are common. Mostly they are swallowed accidentally by children but also by adults. When round and slippery, foreign bodies cause a technical problem for removal. After several days in the stomach they are covered with mucus and extraction becomes even harder. There are various devices designed for use through the flexible endoscope for grasping forei...

Hamiltonian for Quantum Copying

We derive an explicit Hamiltonian for copying the basis up and down states of a quantum two-state system—a qubit—onto n " copy " qubits (n ≥ 1) initially all prepared in the down state. In terms of spin components , for spin-1 2 particle spin states, the resulting Hamiltonian involves n-and (n + 1)-spin interactions. The case n = 1 also corresponds to a quantum-computing controlled-NOT gate.
